The need for engineering in both cases, to achieve an efficient adaptation under future climate scenarios, will  be discussed, followed by a short presentation of adaptation pathways developed for actual beaches and ports. The talk will end with some conclusions on how numerical and hydraulic models can help to steer such climatic adaptation.
